2015 Versado Malbec

Deep, intense ruby-red colour with medium-to-full body. Vibrant, spice and red-fruit with subtle blueberry, floral aromatics and some savoury hints. Fabulous blackberry and black currant notes surround brighter red fruits. Complex, savoury elements give the palate excellent breadth while persistent flavours of ripe fruit culminate in a texture that has drag and a very lengthy finish. ~ Ann Sperling

Score: 91. "In the 2015 version, look for more red fruits, dried herbs, anise/licorice and spice notes. On the palate, the red fruits are joined by plums, blackberries and herbal/spicy notes with enough juicy acidity to propel it through the finish." ~ Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com

Score: 90. "Dense purple in colour; earthy, blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose; medium-bodied, fresh on the palate with lively acidity and a firm tannic structure; red and black fruit flavours." ~ Tony Aspler, tonyaspler.com

Score: 90. "A full-bodied and spicy Argentinean Malbec from the Luján De Cuyo, Mendoza. Wine grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards over 3,000 feet above sea level and produced by Canadian winemaking power-couple Ann Sperling and Peter Gamble. Juicy with red and dark berries, dried fine herbs, anise and spicy notes." ~ Natalie Maclean, nataliemaclean.com

A year in the vineyard

2015 marks the first year of certified organic production in the vineyard. The growing season was cooler and wetter than normal, including rainy periods at harvest. This harvest was in the last days of March so is elegant and savoury.
