    Our Wines

The true Voice of the Vineyard.

Versado’s vineyard is planted to Malbec (with the exception of less than 1% Tempranillo, sparsely interspersed, and an even smaller quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon). These plantings date back over a century to 1920, and it is plantings of this era that established the reputation of Malbec as the signature grape of Mendoza.

Unlike the vast majority of the world's vines (more than 99%), our vines are not grafted to rootstock of native North American grapevinesa response to the devastating phylloxera epidemic of the mid-19th century in Europe. Because they are not grafted, our ancient Malbec vines arguably provide the purest expression of this classic grape variety.

Malbec - the signature grape of Argentina.

"Malbec will make it big. By the year 2015, the greatness of Argentinean wines made from the Malbec grape will be understood as a given. This French varietal, which failed so miserably on its home soil in Bordeaux, has reached startling heights of quality in Argentina. Both inexpensive, delicious Malbecs and majestic, profoundly complex ones from high-elevation vineyards are already being produced, and by 2015 this long-ignored grape’s place in the pantheon of noble wines will be guaranteed."
